FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GOT QUESTIONS? WE'VE GOT ANSWERS.

Are you about to turn 65 and need Medicare explained to you? You’re not alone as most of our clients reach out to us because of the confusion of Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage Plans, Part A, Part B, Part C, Part D. Approximately 10,000 people turn 65 every day and the majority of the misinformation is the conflicting mail advertisements they begin receiving daily before their 65th birthday.

So, let’s talk about the steps to take as you transition to Medicare in 2022 or 2023.

Our team is ready to help you

Q: How does Medicare work?

A: "Original Medicare" includes Medicare Part A (hospitalization insurance) and Part B (medical insurance). Through Medicare, you can use any doctor or hospital that takes Medicare. If you want drug coverage for medications, you can join a separate Medicare drug plan (Part D).

There are often many different options to choose from depending on where you live. This is why it's a good idea to speak to an insurance agent specializing in Medicare.

Q: Does Medicare cost money?

A: You usually don't pay a monthly premium for Medicare Part A (which is hospitalization insurance) if you or your spouse paid Medicare taxes for a certain amount of time while working.

There are additional coverages that may require a monthly premium payment.

Q: What is a Medicare Advantage Plan?

A: Most Medicare Advantage Plans cover things like vision, hearing, dental, and fitness programs (like gym memberships or discounts).

These plans can also choose to cover even more benefits, like transportation to doctor visits, over-the-counter drugs, and other services that promote your general health and wellness.

Q: What is a Medicare supplement?

A: Medicare supplement plans help to cover the cost of things Original Medicare does not cover. These plans generally require a low monthly premium.

Talk to us to see if a Medicare supplement plan is right for you!

Q: How does the Prescription Drug Plan Work?

A: Medicare Part D is insurance to help you pay for your medication. You pay a monthly premium for your Part D plan, then instead of paying full price at your pharmacy, you will pay a copay or percentage of the drug's cost.

Q: How do I get Medicare?

A: When you're first eligible for Medicare, you have a 7-month Initial Enrollment Period surrounding your 65th birthday to sign up for Part A and/or Part B.

If you choose to work after 65, you may have the option to delay your Part B enrollment.

However, there are some important decisions to make at this time that can affect your healthcare coverage for years to come. This is why it's a good idea to speak to an insurance agent specializing in Medicare.

Q: Where is your office located?

A: Medicare Education Services serves all of southeastern Pennsylvania, but our offices are located in Pottstown PA.

Q: Do I need more than Parts A and B?

A: It depends on a number of different factors. This is why it's a good idea to speak to an insurance agent specializing in Medicare. Together, we can determine what plan best suits your individual needs, and make sure you have the coverage you need.
